CV 2008/09
Present Position: Assistant Headteacher Northfleet Technology College
Experience
I have 16 years teaching experience within the comprehensive and multi-cultural sectors. I have had 7 years experience in middle management positions and I have spent the past 7 years at Senior Leadership Level. What has this experience taught me about my educational vision?
Ø I am a leader who believes that the educational landscape for the majority of learners needs to be challenged.
Ø By challenging the types of learning in a school all young people can be provided with a motivating and relevant education that allows for lifelong progression through their chosen career(s) pathways.
Ø Education is about treating a school as a learning organisation that encompasses all stakeholders.
Ø I will be a Headteacher with a clear vision for my school because I understand my own personal values. I know what outstanding learning is and I have had direct leadership to embed this within my current role. No matter what the circumstances or difficulty, I will use a leadership approach that moves the school forward and empowers the professionalism of the staff.
Ø The children in my school will be cared for like my own child. Parenting is not an easy role and children need, and want, clear structures and boundaries. Whilst I recognise that not all children respond in the way we wish them to, it is important to find adaptive solutions for their care and education. It is not about exclusion, but inclusion within the right educational environment for the young person.
